Meet the Speakers
Nathan Lighthizer, OD, FAAO
Dr. Lighthizer is a graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry. Upon graduation, he completed a residency in Family Practice Optometry with an emphasis in Ocular Disease through Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry (NSUOCO). Dr. Lighthizer has since joined the faculty at the Oklahoma College of Optometry and serves as the Chief of Specialty Care Clinics and the Chief of Electrodiagnostics Clinic. In 2014, he founded and now heads the Dry Eye Clinic at the College of Optometry. Also in 2014, he was named the Director of Continuing Education as well as the Assistant Dean for Clinical Care Services at the Oklahoma College of Optometry. Starting in 2020, he was named the Associate Dean of the NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry. He is a founding member, and currently serves as Immediate Past President, of the Intrepid Eye Society, which is a group of emerging thought leaders in optometry. Dr. Lighthizer lectures nationally and internationally on numerous topics, most notably advanced ophthalmic procedures, electrodiagnostics, and ocular disease.
Clark Y. Chang, OD, MSA, MSc, FAAO
Dr. Chang pursued degrees in both Doctor of Optometry and Master of Science in Low Vision Rehabilitation at the PA College of Optometry, Salus University. After the completion of his advanced degree programs, Dr. Chang undertook additional residency training in primary care to augment his knowledge in the management of ocular pathologies. Dr. Chang’s residency training culminated his interests in cornea and contact lenses, which led to the completion of his fellowship in Cornea and Contact Lens at The Cornea and Laser Eye Institute. He has been involved in many clinical studies, both during his residency and fellowship. Dr. Chang lectures both nationally and internationally. Dr. Chang works at the Wills Eye Hospital - Cornea Service in Philadelphia, PA.
William Tullo, OD, FAAO
Dr. Tullo received his Doctorate in Optometry degree from the State of New York College of Optometry in 1988. Dr. Tullo serves as the Medical Director – OCULUS Inc. He continues to see patients at his private practice that he has maintained for over three decades. In addition, Dr. Tullo is involved in many professional organizations. He is a Diplomate Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry’s Cornea Contact Lens & Refractive technology section and has been a member of the American Optometric Association since 1984.
Eric R. Devore, OD, FAAO, Diplomate ABO
Dr. Devore completed his training at SUNY State College of Optometry where he rotated through clinical externships with the Tucson VA, Boston VA, and Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn. He then pursued residency training in the treatment and management of ocular disease with Omni Eye Services NJ and Omni Eye Surgery NY. Following residency, Dr. Devore assumed the role of Center Director of Omni Eye Surgery NY in Manhattan where he also functioned as residency preceptor, externship director, and Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor with SUNY College of Optometry. Prior to joining Campus Eye Group, Dr. Devore also worked as an optometry residency preceptor with BronxCare Health System in Bronx, NY working with underserved populations. Dr. Devore has lectured to the optometric community in NYC and NJ.
Kathleen Kinzley, OD
Dr. Kinzley received her doctorate in optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where she graduated cum laude. At Salus, Dr. Kinzley was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the optometry honor society, and SOSH, which provides vision care in underprivileged countries. As an intern, Dr. Kinzley specialized in low vision at the William Feinbloom Vision Rehabilitation Center. There she helped patients with limited vision regain skills in reading and mobility through vision rehabilitation. She gained knowledge in contact lens fitting from Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Paul Freeman, OD, FAAO, FCOVD
Dr. Freeman graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. He is currently the Chief of Low Vision Rehabilitation Services at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and provides low vision rehabilitation services at Keystone Blind Association in Hermitage, Pennsylvania and Beaver County Association for the Blind in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He has been an investigator in vision research projects to determine the efficacy of sophisticated low vision devices, to assess the psychological implications of low vision, and to explore the relationship of vision and the learning process. Dr. Freeman is a Clinical Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word, Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Freeman is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate in Low Vision. He is also a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Dr. Freeman lectures both nationally and internationally and in 2012 was involved in AARPs Smart Driver training videos. Dr. Freeman has authored and co-authored written work.
Susan Klacik, ABOC, FNAO, HFOAA
Susan Klacik has served the eye care industry for over 35 years and has maintained her status as an American Board of Opticianry certified optician since 1991. Ms. Klacik is recognized by the ABO and AOA as a valued provider of continuing education, and as a guest speaker, she has developed and taught several lens design and technology presentations for three of the nation’s optometric colleges. In addition to optician, optometric technician and practice manager, Ms. Klacik has held positions across numerous aspects of the eye care industry, including Technical Service Consultant, Sales Consultant and Sales Manager with leading labs and lens manufacturers, Business Manager of an HMO Eye Care Division, Executive Director of a non-profit eye care provider, and Managing Director of her own practice consulting LLC. In her current role as Territory Sales Manager for Luzerne Optical Laboratories. Ms. Klacik presents continuing education to eye care professionals across the U.S. and Canada and is accredited to deliver a variety of certified courses, including those in Sales and Service, Practice Management, and Technical Level I & II lens design, treatments, and technologies.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CE CREDIT:
Track A courses presented at this event will be New Jersey State Board of Optometrists (NJSBO) and CE Broker Approved only (and are non-COPE courses). Courses will be accepted for CE credit in NJ, NY, PA, and FL. If you are licensed in any other state, please check with that state's Optometry Board to inquire if these courses will be accepted. Course outlines and speaker CV's will be added to the NJSOP event handout hub. A separate email will be sent to all registrants with instructions for accessing the handout hub when content is available.
Track B courses will also be AOA-CPC approved in addition to NJSBO and CE Broker.
