Sharon L. Kais, Associate Executive Director

Ms. Kais joined the NJSOP staff as Executive Secretary in 1986.  Since that time, she has held the positions of Director of Education and Industry Relations and most recently in 2020, Associate Executive Director. She is responsible for office management, meeting and seminar management and educational grant procurement, and working closely with the Executive Director to chart NJSOP's future growth.  She serves as staff liaison to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Member Recruitment and Benefits Center, Clinical Care Center and the Dr. Richard J. Favreau Health Foundation.  Ms. Kais also serves as an Officer on the Dr. Leslie Mintz Scholarship Foundation Board of Trustees.

Ms. Kais  has experienced many changes and advances in the profession of optometry throughout her tenure with the NJSOP including the creation of the Therapy By the Sea Convention in Atlantic City, the passage of the TPA bill in 1992, and the passage of the Oral Pharmaceutical bill in 2007.

She was the recipient of the Meritorious Service Award in 1988 and 2005 and received a Special Recognition Award for 25 years of Service in 2011.

Ms. Kais is a RYT-200 and teaches children's and adult yoga and meditation in her spare time.  She  enjoys boating, concerts, traveling, and spending time with her son, Cole.
